Responsible for teaching introductory level dance classes for children and young adults.
Must have experience with multiple dance styles and techniques, which may include ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and/or cheerleading and tumbling.
Job Duties Provide excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy which reflects the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Work with and teach young children dance techniques and styles Communicate effectively, written and verbally, with students, parents and coworkers.
Create lesson plans/curriculum.
Establish and maintain cooperative professional working relationships with others; individually and in a team environment.
Actively listen to customers and address any concerns or needs.
Assist develop and facilitate a safe, successful and ultimately fun dance class.
Other duties as assigned.
Work performed at indoor facilities: Roundhouse and Peace Memorial City Auditorium; Majority of work is performed inside a climate controlled facility; noise level and activity level will be varied.
Essential Functions: Stand and walk for extended periods of time, dance, speak, climb stairs, push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
Requirements: Requirements Required knowledge of dance styles and techniques.
One year of college education, work/volunteer experience with school age children, courses in recreation, education, psychology, or sociology preferred.
Other Information Must pass a background check.
Must pass drug test.
