NOW OFFERING NEW HIRE BONUS OF $1000* Job Description Summary As a Machinist at Caterpillar Inc.
you will set up and operate conventional, special purpose and numerical (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts.
* Individuals in this classification are fully trained on several machines but not all of the following: CNC Lathes, CNC vertical machining centers, CNC Horizontal boring mills, and hand tools used in the manufacturing process.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut Enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specs Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment Tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance Confers with manufacturing engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining problems Additional Information - Machinist II Pay starts at: $23.
72/hr (*Base hourly rate is starting at $22.
17/hr with a 7% night shift premium when working 2nd shift hours.
